Easy-to-Follow Instructions:

Follow these simple steps for a flawless application. Always work in a well-ventilated area and wear protective gear like gloves and eye protection. This is a straightforward DIY process that doesn't require advanced tools – just a caulking gun applicator (manual or pneumatic), masking tape, sandpaper, and a heat gun.

  1. Prepare the Surface: Ensure your vehicle or workpiece is at room temperature (around 70°F) for at least an hour and positioned level. Clean the seams or joints thoroughly with a surface cleaner like SEM Solve. For primed surfaces, sand with P400 grit paper or a gray scuff pad. For bare metal, use P80 grit. Blow off dust and wipe clean again.
  2. Prime if Needed: Apply directly to cleaned bare metal or primed areas. For flexible zones (e.g., areas that twist), use a two-component urethane or epoxy primer first and let it fully cure before sealing. Avoid acid-based self-etching primers.
  3. Mix the Sealer: Insert the 7 oz. cartridge into your applicator gun. Pry off the cap with a screwdriver. Squeeze out a small amount until both components flow evenly (equalizing the mix). Attach a static mixer tip (available separately, like SEM 70011) and cut the tip to your desired bead size. Test dispense a bead on scrap material to confirm even mixing.
  4. Apply the Sealer: Use masking tape to create a dam at the forward end of the seam to control flow. Dispense the sealer into the center of the channel – it will self-level naturally. Immediately use a heat gun on low setting (2-6 inches away) to pop any air bubbles for a smooth finish.

While still wet, clean up any excess with a VOC-compliant solvent. Carefully remove the tape with a razor knife. If needed, trim the dammed end without lifting the sealer from the base.

  1. Cure and Finish: Allow 15 minutes to set before painting. Full cure takes about 1 hour. Sand lightly if required for a seamless look.

Safety Precautions: Store in a cool, dry place away from heat or flames. Check local regulations for VOC compliance. Review the full Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for detailed health info – always prioritize safety!
