High Teck HFP650-1 Corvette Yellow Urethane Basecoat Paint - 1 Gallon (GM Code 52)

Premium Factory-Pack Urethane Basecoat for Professional Automotive Refinishing

This is a brand-new, factory-sealed 1-gallon container of High Teck HFP650-1 Series Urethane Basecoat in Corvette Yellow (GM Code 52), a vibrant bright yellow shade commonly associated with classic Chevrolet models like the 1970s Corvettes and Camaros (also known as Sunflower Yellow in some applications). This high-quality, national rule-compliant basecoat is designed for automotive refinishing, offering excellent hiding power, quick drying times, and seamless blending for OEM color matching. Ideal for overall resprays, spot repairs, large blend areas, or as a ground-coat material under clearcoats.

High Teck's HFP-Series is a cost-effective alternative to premium brands, providing professional-grade results at up to 64% lower cost. It's blendable with other colors to match a wide range of OEM paint codes, and various factory-pack shades are available for precise matching. This urethane-based formula ensures durability, UV resistance, and a smooth finish when properly applied and top-coated with a compatible clearcoat (not included).

Key Features and Benefits:

  • Color Accuracy: Matches GM Code 52 Corvette Yellow (bright/sunflower yellow) for authentic restoration or custom projects.
  • Quick-Drying Formula: Reduces downtime in the shop with fast flash-off times.
  • Excellent Coverage: Achieves full opacity in 2-4 coats, minimizing material usage.
  • Versatile Application: Suitable for overall refinishing, panel repairs, or base layers in multi-stage paint systems.
  • No Hardener Required (Optional): Mixes simply with urethane reducer; optional hardener for enhanced performance.
  • Compliant and Safe: National Rule VOC-compliant with a maximum of 6.8 lb/gal in ready-to-spray form.

Detailed Technical Specifications:

  • Optional Catalyst: Add up to 10% isocyanate hardener (based on unreduced color portion) for improved durability in demanding applications. Hardener not required for standard use.

Surface Preparation and Application Guidelines:

  • Prep: Sand dry with P500-P600 grit (max 100 grit step difference) or wet with P800-P1000 grit (max 200 grit step difference). Clean with wax/grease remover, wipe dry, and tack cloth for dust removal.

  • Top-Coating: Allow minimum 20 minutes flash time (max 24 hours) before applying clearcoat. If exceeded, scuff and reapply a coat.
  • Drying Times (at 70°F/21°C, 50% RH):
    • Flash Between Coats: 5-10 minutes.
    • To Clearcoat: 20 minutes minimum; 24 hours maximum.
    • Force Dry: Not specified; air dry recommended for best results.
