DIY Application Instructions (Technical Guidelines for Best Results):

Safety First: Work in a well-ventilated space or proper spray booth. Use full PPE: organic vapor respirator, safety goggles, nitrile gloves, and protective suit. This product contains isocyanates – avoid inhaling spray mist or vapors.

Surface Preparation:

  1. Confirm basecoat is fully dry/cured per its specs (usually 20-60 minutes flash-off, but check manufacturer).
  2. Lightly sand if needed (600-800 grit) for adhesion, then wipe with a tack cloth to remove dust/lint.
  3. Degrease surface thoroughly – no oils, waxes, or silicones.

Mixing (4:1 Ratio – Reducer Optional):

  • Ratio: 4 parts Clear Coat : 1 part Hardener (by volume). Example: Mix 16 fl oz clear + 4 fl oz hardener (total 20 fl oz mixed) for smaller jobs.
  • Use marked mixing cups for precise ratios.
  • Stir thoroughly for 1-2 minutes (avoid shaking to prevent bubbles).
  • Pot life: 3-5 hours typical (use promptly; varies with temp).
  • Reducer: Usually not needed, but add 5-10% urethane reducer if spraying in hot/humid conditions for better flow (test small batch first).

Application (HVLP Gun Recommended):

  • Tip size: 1.3-1.4 mm, 25-35 PSI at gun (adjust to your setup).
  • Apply 2 medium-wet coats (often sufficient for great build; add a 3rd if extra depth needed).
    • Coat 1: Medium seal coat. Flash 10-15 minutes.
    • Coat 2: Fuller wet coat. Flash 10-15 minutes.
    • Optional Coat 3: Wet-on-wet for maximum gloss/build.
  • 50-75% overlap per pass; keep gun 6-8 inches away.
  • Avoid runs/sags – thin layers build better.
  • Ideal temp: 65-80°F (18-27°C). Use faster/slower hardener variants if extreme conditions.

Drying & Curing:

  • Dust-free: 10-20 minutes
  • Tape-free: 1-2 hours
  • Sand/buff: 24-48 hours air dry (or accelerate with heat/IR per guidelines).
  • Full hardness: 5-7 days for peak durability.

Buffing & Polishing: After cure, wet sand (1500-2000 grit) if needed, then compound with a DA polisher, follow with polish, and seal with wax/protectant for ultimate depth and shine.

This universal 4:1 clear is DIY-friendly with proper prep and technique – many home painters get pro-level results! Patience and clean application are key.
