1. Surface Preparation:
   • Clean the surface thoroughly with soap and water, then degrease using a wax and grease remover.
   • Sand the area with 400-600 grit sandpaper for smooth adhesion. For bare metal, apply a primer first (e.g., epoxy or self-etching primer).
   • Mask off surrounding areas to prevent overspray.
2. Mixing:
   • Shake or stir the Ebony Black basecoat well before use.
   • Thin with the included Medium Platinum Reducer (recommend 4:1 ratio – 4 parts paint to 1 part reducer) for spray application. Adjust slightly based on your equipment and conditions (warmer temps may need a bit more reducer). Do not over-thin to avoid runs.
   • No hardener required for basecoat.
3. Application:
   • Use a HVLP spray gun with a 1.3-1.4mm tip for optimal results. Apply at 50-60 PSI.
   • Apply 2-3 light, even coats, allowing 5-10 minutes flash time between coats. Avoid heavy coats to prevent sagging.
   • Ideal temperature: 70-80°F (21-27°C) with low humidity.
   • Dry time: Tack-free in 15-30 minutes; ready for clear coat in 30-60 minutes. Do not exceed 24 hours before clear coating, or scuff and reapply.
4. Topcoating:
   • Apply a 2K clear coat (e.g., urethane clear) over the basecoat for protection and shine. Follow the clear coat's instructions for mixing and application.
   • Allow full cure (up to 24-48 hours) before polishing or exposing to elements.
5. Cleanup & Safety:
   • Clean tools immediately with lacquer thinner or acetone.
